More randomness

I have a feeling this is going to be another random blog, so be forewarned.  I'm not sure what exactly I want to write about, so let's just start with...

Push Presents!

Yeah, I didn't know what these were either until a few months ago.  Apparently, some mothers expect their significant others to get them a present in return for them giving birth (usually it's a new car, a makeover, diamonds, etc).  I told Mark about this, and he didn't take it too seriously.  I'm not expecting a push present, but I did tell Mark that I might like some new shoes or something lol!  We all know that it's common for pregnant ladies to outgrow their shoes, so you never know, I may very well end up needing some new sandals after all.  That's a lot better than demanding Mark buy me a new tennis bracelet, right?  Push presents... sort of unnecessary in my opinion, but I wouldn't object to Mark getting me one ;)

Overprotective parents!

I was fortunate enough to not have psycho/super strict/overprotective/helicopter parents growing up.  Most of my friends had normal parents, too, so I never heard a lot of horror stories about crazy parenting.  That's not to say my mom and dad were lax and didn't care about what my sister and I were doing, but they weren't "over the top".  For awhile now, I've been following a baby forum online (Baby Center), and one mom-to-be had written a post about how she was going to be a "no-nonsense, no-fun, strict, and overbearing" mom.  She had some traumatic things happen to her when she was younger, and in order to prevent that from happening to her son, she was not going to allow him to go to sleepovers at anyone's house (with the exception of some very close family).  Now, when I was in elementary school, I can recall at least one sleepover that I went to at a friend's house, and I had a good freakin' time!  We did each others' hair, talked about boys, and did all of the dumb stuff that fifth grade girls do when they're together.

I realize that we live in some crazy times now where girls (and boys) can get molested by anyone at anytime, and of course parents have to be careful with whom they leave their children.  Still, I think that if your child is old enough to understand what is right and what is wrong, and, most importantly, if you as a parent know and trust the people that will be hosting the sleepover, then it's perfectly fine.  I will not keep our little girl from experiencing a sleepover simply because I won't be there to oversee what's going on.  This mom I mentioned even explained that she wouldn't allow her son to be kept in the nursery at church during the service for fear of something happening to him there.  Yeah.  Whatever.  She also wouldn't allow him to partake in sports or other school activities if she couldn't be there to watch over him (I'm assuming she meant during practice, meetings, etc).  SERIOUSLY?  She said that she'd ease up on the restrictions when he turned 16.  Sixteen!

I feel bad for the kid.  I can't imagine being that sheltered for that long.  But hey, to each their own!  Perhaps her son will grow up without anything bad ever happening to him and he'll be an awesome adult.  Then again, he could turn into an anti-social hermit who doesn't trust anyone besides his mother... omg I just thought of Norman Bates.

Baby bump pics!

 18 weeks

19 weeks

As you can see, I'm finally sporting a bump!  HOORAY!!  I finally caved and bought two pairs of maternity pants, and they're damned comfortable.

Flutters!

And... for the past week or so I've also been feeling some movement!  It's hard to describe what it feels like, but I really only feel it when I lay down in bed at night so I'm pretty sure it's lil Miss Bailey.  She becomes more active at night, so perhaps she's a night owl like her mama ;)  Maybe that means she'll stay up late, sleep through the night, and wake up late?  Yeah, wishful thinking, I know.

Cravings!

I've been wanting Chick-fil-A for a couple weeks now, and I'm ready to get in my car and drive the 45 miles to Rancho Cucamonga just for a freakin' spicy chicken sandwich and waffle fries!!!!  At this point I don't care how much gas is, I just want my chicken 'n fries!  Amongst other things:
  • Donuts (this is a new one... I never crave them)
  • Strawberries
  • Watermelon
  • Dr. Pepper
  • Oreos
I don't feel too bad about that list since two of those things are good for you!

The end!

Goodnight folks :)
