I'm pregnant... WHAAA???

Well, this is old news to probably all of you, but Mark and I are expecting a little baby Armstrong in August!  August 10th, to be precise.  And yes, it was planned ;)  I'm a little over 11 weeks along now, and I have to say... if this is the worst trimester of pregnancy, then the rest should be a breeze!  I haven't been a victim to morning sickness, nor have I had any of the awful symptoms I so frequently hear about.  I am eternally grateful for this, because I 110% hate nausea and throwing up.

It's pretty weird to think that there is another little human being inside of me growing bigger every day.  It's been a really long time with just Mark and me, so it will be interesting to see how much our lives will change with the addition of a baby.  Growing up, I was rarely around babies or even little kids (at least as far as I can remember), so having a baby of my own is completely foreign to me right now!  Even as I sit here and type, the idea of being "pregnant" and "carrying a baby" doesn't seem real.  Don't get me wrong - I know that I most certainly am, but it's kind of like getting older.  You pass a milestone like turning 40 - you know you're 40, but do you feel like you're 40?  Basically, I don't "feel" pregnant, which is another one of those things I'm thankful for.  I know that later on I will DEFINITELY feel pregnant, so I am enjoying these early months of no back pain and no swollen feet.

Here are some of the symptoms I've experienced thus far:
  • Getting tired around 10pm even if I slept in late!
  • Ravenous appetite - I like to eat but this is unusual even for me.
  • Feeling a little sick if I'm really hungry (i.e. in the mornings or if I haven't eaten in more than 4 fours).
  • Tender boobs!
  • Acne breakouts - UGH.  Friggin' hormones.  Thank God for good makeup.
In other news, I can't wait til I start showing and have a good reason to buy some of those comfy maternity jeans (or at least a belly band)!  They look like they feel amazing to wear LOL.  I've been perusing maternity clothes and some are just straight-up frumpy, so I've taken to Googling "trendy/cute maternity clothes" and have come up with better results :)  Some of the stuff is cheesy, but some of it isn't too bad.  The last thing I want to look like is a huge tent in a muumuu, so if it's form-fitting, it's all right by me.  Being big and pregnant doesn't mean you have to look like crap, right?  A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do...

One thing I'm hoping will happen is that I'll start to crave more fruits and veggies - for now I'm craving all the bad stuff which is not helping!!  I've actually managed to not gain any weight yet (which is a miracle considering what I've been eating), but I need to make a conscious effort to eat better for the sake of our little peanut.  One good development: I've dramatically reduced my caffeine intake!  I am a self-professed soda fiend, and I've tried to cut back on that as well.  So, in my opinion, I'm doing better than I was!

I don't want to bore you all with my pregnancy ramblings, so until next time!  Who knows how much time will pass before I post another blog?  Hopefully not another 4 months ;)

And now, to leave you with something that will make you smile :D
